I grew up watching Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, so that tells you I’m old enough to be your mom. People my age (and older) know real pro wrestling when we see it. Sadly, I hadn’t seen it for a long time until I stumbled upon Thursday night Impact many months ago. Good versus evil and how to handle the gray area in between; interesting characters conveying good story lines; wrestlers who hone their craft instead of merely relying on 6 pack abs and being pin-up magazine material for attention; athletes who realize that a moonsault is not necessary for a great match; – and all this taking place in a smaller venue in which the audience can easily get caught up in the action. Wrestling as it should be! Please bear with me, I’ll finish this comment in one more submission to your site.
The point of all this is that Impact’s characters are hearkening back to the roots of great wrestling, and it’s exciting! Demon and Bunny are unsurpassed, though. Like it was when I was a kid, I find myself looking forward to what may happen the following week as stories unfold and build. Forgive me if I’m out of line here, but if by chance Rosemary returns a little darker, I’d sure like to see her incorporate her own interpretation of some of the following: the Assassin could utilize a chop block from a position of being on all fours; follow up those great corner forearms with a European uppercut, her own type of demonic elbow, or double axe handle type chop. I also think it would be particularly psychotically wicked to perform the Canadian Ronnie Garvin stomp, then finish things with a submission move. Or, when rapid fire face punching the opponent on the mat, occasionally go for a pin when done. Pick up the opponent’s head after counting has begun and administer the Garvin stomp. (What a satisfying move for the audience…just something about it…) Now, there is nothing original in what I’m suggesting. But in the arsenal of the demon assassin, these moves may add a little to the already superb ring style of the One from the Realm of the Shadow. (P.S. Should Allie and Rosemary eventually become a tag team, I’d love to see them work over their opponents similarly to the one-body-part-at-a-time style of the old Minnesota Wrecking Crew. Boy, were they great…) I’ll be ordering my merch soon, and just thanks for creating the kind of wrestling quality we desperately need…and thanks for tolerating this long comment!
